The Sydney series reflects a contemporary view of the Blaire silhouette. The classic English Arm, with its elegant tailoring, is paired with a tight back and skirtless base, offering a decidedly updated look. Note how the curve of the base rail on the end flows with the line of the English Arm above. In similar fashion, the top back rail above each of the three seat cushions on the sofa features a gentle arch in the back. Metal ferrules and casters are offered in your choice of aged brass (B) or pewter (P). The exposed wood leg also allows for customization, with over forty finishes from which to choose. Frame rigidity and strength comes from select hardwoods or engineered hardwoods with joints that are either double-doweled, glued, screwed, and blocked on every corner or mortise and tenon construction. Comfortable seating begins with rows of double-coil steel springs positioned within the frame supported by a platform of poly webbing and steel bands, where applicable. Artisans then tie each coil to the frame with fine twine in eight directions. Eight-way hand-tied suspension is a heritage technique that requires exceptional skill and creates our signature “sit” that is soft, supportive, and flexible. Seat cushions are constructed with high resiliency soy-based foam that is wrapped in fiber then encased in a soft fabric ticking which reduces abrasion and helps fabric wear longer. Loose back cushions are baffled to hold the fiber in place.
